Travel Gadgets And Accessories – Traveling is always an experience some of us never try and should, or there are some of us take travel for granted.
But regardless of what type of traveler you are, there are things that we never travel without.
These things we never travel without could be an item that we can’t live without or an item that breaks up the monotony of air travel.
I have been flying a lot lately due to film conferences I have attended across the country. On my most recent trip, I discussed with a fellow traveler on whether they had an essential packing list.
Surprisingly enough the traveler didn’t have an essential travel list, and this traveler travels for business weekly.
From the conversation, I decided that I would create my travel gadgets and accessories list for others to have a look at and see if they need to add them to his/her travel packing list.
What are the Travel Gadgets And Accessories I never travel without? The first thing on my list is something I can barely escape the house with, and that’s my cellphone.
I use my iPhone for everything from storing all my tickets, booking confirmations, itineraries, maps, and keeping in touch with people while I’m away.
But being Canadian, which I think has the highest cellphone rates in the world, the minute I step foot into another country the meter starts running, so I tend to use those around me to make phone calls.
Which is why I always take with me a burner smartphone for travel.
I currently have the iPhone 11 Pro Max and I LOVE it!
It’s the best smartphone for travel photography if you are an apple user.
I am an amateur filmmaker trying to one day be as big as Tommy Wiseau, and the 4k video on the iPhone is amazing.
My friends think the best smartphone camera for travel is the HUAWEI P30 Pro which I have to say has a fantastic camera for those that like the Android operating system.
The videos I capture on this tiny, little computer almost match my Canon Mark 5d III in terms of quality, plus its small enough to hide in my from a pocket.
Sorry Cannon, that sits on my table when I go on trips, it’s not you it’s me.
Because I use my phone so much, I have to carry a portable charger.
The main one is the Portable Charger RAVPower 20000mAh 60W PD Power Bank 2-Port USB, which I’ve found to be reliable.
I’ve been given cheaper power bank chargers in seminar swag bags, but the charge lasts just as long as a boy bands career.
Plus, there is nothing like playing angry birds on the plane and losing your score 2 hours into a 10-hour flight. Damn you Angry birds!!!
The best power bank charger for me is one of those travel essentials that makes it easier to grab an UBER after touching down in who knows what city you land in at 1 am.
That’s why I love the Power Bank Anker for this reason and it’s why I have it in my Travel Gadgets and Accessories packing list.
This battery packs a punch and was able to keep all my devices charged on a 3 night 4 day portaging trip out in the backcountry.
I was able to charge my phone, mirrorless camera, GoPro, bug lantern, and headlamp all with this little gadget.
The charger is compatible with most smartphones and any other USB-compatible gear, and its two USB ports allow you to charge two devices simultaneously.
Noise Canceling Headphones
For sanitary purposes, I like having my own pair of headphones on any flight.
I know that come in plastic wrap when handed to you, but how sure are these just not dipped in a vat of hand sanitizer and re-wrapped.
No, I am not a germaphobe, but I play one on t.v.
The second most important of the things I never travel without is a great set of noise-canceling headphones with Bluetooth like the Bose NC 700, which can make the plane rides a piece of cake.
Especially, when all the babies on the plane have decided it’s time to play that great baby game called,” who can scream the loudest.”
The excellent noise-canceling abilities and sound quality make tuning in to that in-flight movie much more enjoyable than with any pair you can buy on the plane.
Also, The headphones are Alexa enabled which enhances the hands-free experience and virtual assistance.
These are the best noise-canceling headphones for travel that everyone should pack for his/her Travel Gadgets And Accessories packing list.
I didn’t have an issue with the babies on the airplanes as I feel for the parents and having everyone on the plane give them the death stare.
But I do have a problem on the plane when the following below plays anywhere near me.
Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot & Power Bank
When I am traveling, sometimes it’s difficult to stay connected to family and friends on social media in remote areas where it’s tough to find a wifi hotspot.
Sure, I use my unlocked smartphone from time to time, but with the Skyroam Solis (pictured above), I don’t have to worry about constantly changing sim cards from country to country to avoid roaming charges.
Why is that? Because with this portable wifi device, you can enjoy 24 hours of unlimited WiFi, for around $9 per day. This way, you can stay connected while avoiding crowded cafes and risky public WiFi networks and make any place in your office!
The World’s First Smart spot Combining fast, secure 4G LTE WiFi in 130 countries, a remote camera, power bank, and integrated smart assistant into one pocket-sized gadget.
Connect, post, charge, email, track, photograph… all without SIMs or contracts.
Clean water is not a luxury; it’s a basic necessity. No one should drink contaminated water that’s full of dangerous bacteria but unfortunately, that’s the reality for millions of people around the world.
Out of a desire to make safe and healthy water accessible to everyone, CrazyCap was born.
This groundbreaking, UV Light Water Purifier System screws directly into the included bottle and fits most standard cola-top bottles, delivering immediate water purification results for even the most questionable, bio-contaminated water sources.
Before buying this UV Light Water Purifier System, I suffered countless times of being ill from drinking contaminated water in Mexico and South East Asia.
With CrazyCap’s on-demand sterilization, I know I have purified water when I need it.
Travel Adapter / Voltage Converter
Have you ever relaxed on a bed after a long day of exploring a foreign city, and noticed that the bed is on fire?
I have, and it adds more excitement to the trip than expected.
How did this happen? Well, it’s because my wife plugged her heating pad into a cheaply made international power adapter that caused the problem.
Now, wherever I travel, I pack a Universal Travel Adapter / Voltage Converter with me to avoid any unexpected disasters.
This Bestek Adapter (pictured above) is perfect for those looking for a great travel adapter.
With 250W output power, 4 USB ports, and 3 AC ports, this inverter can charge 7 devices at the same time to meet your various needs for international travel.
Excellent Traveling Accessory For Your Power needs!
No matter how much I love my iPhone, it’s no match for a pad of paper and a pen to take notes.
Have you ever gone through your notes on your phone months later and realized that the 50 notes you wrote in the past, didn’t make a difference now since they didn’t get completed?
I don’t want to sound nostalgic here, but that’s why I love traveling with a leather travel journal.
Leather journals offer a connection between your mind and your written words, it is a great way to get out your thoughts or feelings onto paper.
A leather journal becomes more than just a blank book – it becomes an extension of yourself, a tool to help capture the thoughts and moments that make up your days.
“No matter where you go, there you are” buckaroo banzai.
I always think that when I am going to a resort for some relaxation, I somehow manage to walk 15 km a day instead of burning my feet in the sand all day grabbing a drink from the pool bar.
Wait, you are supposed to be in the pool to get drinks? Well, that makes it easier next time.
I have done that, not fun for the remainder of the trip.
I am partial to Nike Shoes (pictured above) but any type of running shoe that gives provides comfort throughout the trip will help.
Now, this is something that anybody can take or leave it.
But I like having a watch, and with all the great features that many now have, I kinda feel like Dick Tracy more and more each day.
I have the Garmin Approach S60, and it’s the perfect watch for me.
The reason for packing the Garmin s60 golf watch for my travel and accessories packing list is that I love golf, and whenever I get a chance to play I will take it.
But when I run into a situation where I have never played the course before, and the pro shop ran out of yardage books, this watch is a golf game saver on the course.
Now, you may not be a golfer, and I can accept that, but there are many other smartwatches out there that offer incredible features that will suit your lifestyle, like the Fitbit, and you will wonder why you haven’t picked up one yet.
Wherever I traveling, I am always traveling with just a carry-on. The reason for that is I don’t like paying extra baggage fees, and also, I don’t like waiting around for my baggage at the end of the flight.
While you may have your favorite backpack for traveling, my favorite is the NOMATIC Travel Bag(pictured above).
The reason why I like the NOMATIC Travel Bag is that it’s big enough to condense everything into a single bag without checking it in.
An example of a 4-day packing list for me is usually:
- Laptop, iPad, and a lot of cables/chargers
- Nintendo switch, Bose QC35 headphones
- Toiletries (using the nomatic washbag, not required but certainly looks great and feels like part of the set)
- 2 work shirts, 3 t-shirts
- 2 pairs of trousers for the office, one pair of jeans
- Smart shoes
This pushes the bag to its limits, I may have a liter of space left to squeeze in a few extras if needed, but that’s ok, I tend to overpack and carry a lot of tech ‘just in case’ that I don’t end up using.
The bag is pretty lightweight in itself but with all this stuff in (as you can imagine) it gets heavy, I’ve tried both with and without the detachable waist straps and I would definitely recommend using them, it doesn’t feel as ‘cool’ but your back will thank you for it.
- It looks awesome and has a great build quality.
- It focuses a lot on organization, there are pockets for everything and lots of them.
- It’s big enough that I can pack my ‘just in case’ things without worrying I’ll break a zip.
- Detachable waist straps for shorter journeys.
- Makes you feel like a ninja turtle. It’s a very rigid bag
Air Freshener For The Plane
You may laugh at this product, and I know I did the first time I saw it, but it comes in handy on an airplane.
We have all been there, where you see someone walk past you down the aisle heading to the restroom on the plane, and don’t come out for the entire flight.
It is called Fibre!! Eat some!
But when you are the poor soul which forgot about that person, and you come face to face with them in a passer-by as you head to the washroom, this poo-porrui spray will save your life.
This should be one of those travel essentials for long haul flights that everyone should pack.
Portable Laundry System
I don’t know about you, but mustard and coffee love my white dress shirts.
Plus, why am I always wearing white shirts when I am having something with mustard in it and chasing it down with coffee? I am not too bright.
Doing laundry while you travel can suck, especially if you travel light, and use the hotel sink to watch your clothes.
But when I found out about the scrubba wash bag, I started to get excited about wearing all the white shirts I haven’t destroyed yet.
This portable laundry travel gadget is not a miracle worker, but it does a great job in a pinch. Plus, it’s easy to pack.
Whether you are backpacking through Europe, going on an African safari, or traveling on a budget in South Asia, you are going to love the Scrubba Wash Bag.
Sand Free Beach Blanket
Do you like traveling to beach destinations for your holidays, but hate the beach because sand seems to show up in places in don’t want it to be?
If you are the type of traveler that enjoys beach vacations then you need a Multipurpose Outdoors Beach Blanket.
Say goodbye to all that annoying sand which sticks to your regular beach blanket! Just shake the blanket or brush off all the sand with no effort!
I use Wekapo blankets (pictured above) because not only are they sand-free, but also water-resistant.
Meaning the sand from the beach is not leaving a mess in your car on the way back home from a day at the beach, and the water from the sea is not affecting your personal belongings as well.
Portable Travel Projector
Do you travel for business and always worried about not having access to a video projector for your PowerPoint presentations? What about being stuck in an Airbnb during a raining weekend, and the only tv in the room is a 21″inch tv?
I have been stuck in both of these positions while traveling for business as well as traveling around the world in remote locations.
That’s why I one of the most important travel gadgets I always pack is portable projector like the APEMAN M4 Mini Portable Projector (pictured above) with me where ever I travel.
With a portable travel projector, it can connect to a laptop, TV Box, DVD, tablet, camera, PS3/4, smartphone, etc. via HDMI port to enjoy a variety of entertaining resources from many devices.
Which is perfect for turning any room into a home theater! All you need is a blank white wall, and the projector does everything else for you.

Interchangeable Smartphone Lenses
Everyone wants to take the perfect picture or video for capturing memories of his/her vacation.
You can do this by either packing an entire camera kit (read my article on building a travel camera kit here) full of lenses that can be troublesome while traveling light.
Or you can capture incredible footage for your travel memories with the help of interchangeable lenses for your smartphone.
One of the best travel gadgets that I always pack with me is the Moment Smartphone Starter Lens Kit (click here to learn more.)
With a Moment Smartphone Starter Lens Kit, you get five of Moment’s bestselling lenses, perfect for capturing more than you ever could with your phone alone, plus everything else you would need to get started.
See the video for an example of what a difference a lens kit can do for your smartphone camera. (this video below is for the iPhone 8, but it shows what interchangeable lenses are capable of doing for your smartphone pictures.)
I hope that there were some ideas in my 15 travel gadgets and accessories I never travel without list that might make into your travel checklist.
You never know when you might need that one item, that will save every trip for you.
It’s kinda like the American Express card, “Don’t leave home without it.”
