Best Golf Shoes For 2020 – Elevate Your Comfort With These Styles

Do you have reliable golf shoes for the upcoming golf season?

While many of us are still stuck in self-isolation, and we all are waiting to be allowed to get back outside, there are certain outdoor activities in which the restrictions will be lifted very soon on, and golf is one of them.

As of yet, we can’t go running out to the local golf store to update our equipment, but several online golfing retailers have been stocked with the latest golf shoes from major brands like Nike, Puma, Adidas, and Footjoy for months and they want you golf ready when its time.

If you haven’t been golf shoe shopping for a while, golf shoe technology has drastically changed over the past few years. In the past, golf shoes were basically dressing shoes with metal spikes attached to the soles of the shoes. Not exactly what you would want to wear for 4.5 hours on the course.

The great thing about golf shoe technology improving over the years, metal spikes have been replaced by soft plastic spikes, and now the look of the dressy golf shoes has been improved to more of an athletic shoe look.

But the most important thing that has changed over the years in golf shoe technology is the comfort inside the shoe that allows you to push for 36 holes of golf compared to just 18.

So, if you are in the market for a new pair of golf shoes for this upcoming golf season, check out the variety of golf shoes from the major brands in golf that should be in your golf bag today.

Top 5 Golf Shoes To Buy For 2020

I have been searching for a new pair of golf shoes for the past few months, and while I have been stuck inside my house for the past few months, I still had the opportunity before lockdown to test out the latest and greatest in golf shoes for 2020.

The list below is a small taste of the shoes I tested out on the driving range and golf courses in my area.

Here are the best golf shoes you can buy:

Best Overall Golf Shoes

Skechers Men's Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe

Walk from tee to green in maximum comfort with the Skechers GO GOLF Elite V.3 Golf Shoes. Built with the high-performance Resamax cushioned insole, these shoes provide you with unmatchable comfort and response.

The durable grip TPU bottom plate delivers enhanced traction, and the Skechers H2GO Shield seam-sealed waterproof protection keeps your feet dry in wet conditions.

What I like about these golf shoes is they were built for comfort in mind.

If you are a golfer who loves to walk the course or a golfer that shares time between a golf cart and fairway, these are golf shoes that don’t even feel like they are on the feet while golfing.

Which to me is very important as you want to be excited to put on your golf shoes to play and not be excited about taking them off.

Also, since I live in the Pacific Northwest in which it rains a lot, the waterproof protection helps out immensely when you are playing a full 18 holes on soggy fairways.

Pros: The comfort and stability you would expect from the Sketchers brand, with the added waterproof protection for relatively dry feet in damp conditions.

Cons: The golf shoes spikeless design doesn’t offer the same traction off the tee compared to a spiked golf shoe.

Best Spikeless Golf Shoes

ECCO Men's Biom Hybrid 3 BOA Gore-Tex Golf Shoe

ECCO Golf shoes are designed with the utmost attention to how your feet relate to your swing and constructed to provide luxurious comfort from the first time you put them on.

ECCO Golf has partnered with BOA to bring their innovative closure system to ECCO Golf shoes, providing custom comfort with smooth, even closure and no pressure points.

Accurate to the millimeter, the all-new L6 Reel Platform utilizes a more subtle dial with a lower stack height and smaller diameter for more effective closure and adjustment than traditional laces.

The durable, aircraft-grade stainless steel laces can withstand even the highest tension and can be adjusted quickly and precisely with just one hand.

Dirt-repellent and easy to clean, the field and lab-tested Boa laces outlive any traditional shoelace, with a custom, low-friction lace guide ensuring optimum pressure distribution.

The dial and laces of each BOA Closure System are designed to last the lifetime of the shoe, ensuring greater functionality, comfort, and individual fit for as long as the shoe is in use.

What I like about these golf shoes is they are so comfortable! They probably are the most comfortable golf shoes I’ve ever owned. They are roomy enough to not have your feet feel restricted but stable enough that even in wet conditions you don’t slip during your swing.

The real winner for me is the BOA lacing system. It’s nice not having to worry about laces loosening up or coming untied during a round.

Pros: I really like the spikeless design of the shoes which helps in a smooth golf swing, and the comfort is the king as you would expect from an Ecco shoe.

Cons: I own Ecco dress shoes for business use because of the comfort, but in order to receive that comfort, you have to pay a price.

These golf shoes are on the pricer side compared to the Sketchers, but I know with all my Ecco shoes, they are built to last for years. So, consider it an investment in your feet and golf game.

Best Street Cleats Golf Shoes

adidas Men's Adipure Sp Golf Shoe

A classic golf look designed for the elements. Made of Climaproof to give you protection from rain, wind, and snow, these men’s shoes feature Boost to return energy with every drive.

Designed for comfort and durability, the shoes are versatile enough for the course or the clubhouse.

Here’s my take of the ADIPURE SP SHOES. Adidas makes a great casual walking shoe and the idea that they blended a casual street shoe with a golf shoe is a winner for me.

Plus, the Slow resilient memory foam EVA sock liner with leather cover provides great cushioning, fit, support, and comfort. The incorporation of the Street shoe with a rounded toe shape and increased forefoot volume makes for a very versatile fit and all-day comfort

As for stability on the course, the Puremotion outsole offers enhanced flexibility and grip with tour-level traction for a stable swing on the tee or fairway.

Pros: For an extra pair of golf shoes to keep around, these shoes are at a great price pint. I like the traction and stability of these shoes that I never thought I would get in a casual street looking shoe.

Cons: If you are a low handicap player that has a +120 mph golf swing, these shoes might not offer the stability you expect from a touring shoe.

Best For Comfort Golf Shoes

New Balance Men's Minimus Tour Waterproof Spiked Comfort Golf Shoe

Did you know that if you walk a full 18 holes on a golf course, that is equivalent to a 10K walk? No wonder our joints hurt at the end of a round of golf.

Well, my joints do as I am starting to feel my age on the course.

Now, I am not sure that if you start approaching the age of 50, that it’s a write of passage is to own a pair of New Balance running shoes for exercise, but I do.

I think the reason for this is that New Balance running shoes are so comfortable at the gym or on the road. So, if you are going to be walking for 10k during a round of golf, why not have a comfortable New Balance shoe.

The Minimus is a spiked golf shoe, offers the same flexible sole as they do the New Balance running shoes which don’t require any breaking in period.

So that means you can take a new pair of Minimus golf shoes right out of the box, and hit a full 18 without getting any blisters by the end of the round.

Pros: Same great New Balance running shoe feel on the course. Plus, the price point isn’t’ too bad either.

Cons: The leather-look creases easily, so if you are worried about aesthetics on the course, these might not be for you.

Best For Stability Golf Shoes

PUMA Men's Ignite Pwradapt Golf Shoe

The PUMA IGNITE PWRADAPT gives you the power to adapt. Revolutionary and proprietary PWRADAPT Technology provides more traction and comfort with every move you make.

The new full-length IGNITE Foam cushioning platform and PWRADAPT Technology provide responsive comfort and 3-dimensional traction that adapts to the way you move. More Traction + More Comfort = PWRADAPT.

What does this all mean? It means that no matter how fast your swing speed is, your feet will always be locked in!

Stability is very important in a golf swing, and the Puma IGNITE PWRADAPT spike design offers a very stable footing for every hit.

The Dual talon low-profile cleat made with K5 provides excellent traction and long-lasting abrasion resistance. Utilizes the fast twist 3.0 system.

I know I have been going on about the stability of the Puma IGNITE PWRADAPT, but the waterproofing and mid-sole cushion comfort is another great feature of these golf shoes.

I love these shoes, and they might be my next purchase before I hit the links next.

Pros: I love the cleat design of the spike, and the support and comfort help the motivation when a round gets out of hand.

Cons: When you are walking on the cart path or solid ground, you can feel the cleats.

Conclusion

So which is the right golf shoe for you? It depends on what you want on the course, and that will dictate to you the right shoe for you.

If you want a stable golf shoe to keep your swing under control, then a golf shoe with spikes like the Puma Ignite Pwradapt golf shoes or New Balance Minimus Tour golf shoes will suit you fine.

If you want the comfort of a street shoe and traction of a golf shoe, then the Adidas Adipure SP Flex golf shoes or Ecco Biom Hybrid 3 golf shoes will do the trick.

But for a great golf shoe that will work under any conditions, the Skechers Go Golf Elite 3 golf shoes is a clear choice.

I wish you luck this coming golf season, and I hope that you can hit the links more than once for 2020 with a pair of great golf shoes.
