True wireless Earbuds – Are you looking for a set of cheap wireless earbuds, because you can’t afford the price of the Apple Airpods that seem to be overpriced?
When you look at the cost of Apple’s wireless earbuds, they can start at 150 dollars a pair for the first generation, and can go as high as 300 dollars for the latest Apple AirPod Pro’s (click here to read my review).
If you are like me that have lost a few AirPods over time, replacing them can become costly. But how can you find cheaper wireless earbuds that are easier to replace if lost or stolen that can still give the same great quality of sound as the Apple Airpod’s?
Good news for those like me, there is an abundance of bargain wireless earbuds available today that can compete against the apple earphones in the sound quality department. The question is, are these wireless earphones any good?
In my experience of purchasing a pair of true wireless earbuds hasn’t’ been successful. (Read my review on the i7tws earbuds from Amazon.com).
After testing many of the popular cheap AirPod alternatives to find the right true wireless headphones, I have been able to find suitable replacements to compete against the Apple Airpods.
These true wireless earbuds have excellent sound performance, filter out background noise can pair with an Android or Apple device, and have good battery life that will save you money.
MY PICKS FOR THE BEST WIRELESS EARBUDS 2020
If you are looking for the best Airpod alternatives that are currently the most popular truly wireless earbuds for under 100 dollars these are the best that I have tested.
All of these earphones are truly wireless and feature Bluetooth 5.0 that provides a solid audio connection as well as have incredible sound.
Keep in mind that with a few of these true wireless earbuds, I had troubles with pairing to my smartphone (Apple iPhone 11) at the beginning, but no troubles after that.
When it comes to buying wireless earbuds, you may encounter a different experience compared to purchasing wired headphones.
In terms of purchasing a pair of decent wired headphones, there isn’t much in the ways of specifics that you have to keep in mind.
The only technical details that might cross your mind would be how loud the headphones can get without losing the quality of sound.
However, when you are buying wireless earbuds, it’s a different ball game, and you need to keep some things in mind that you wouldn’t with wired headphones.
Below are my choices for the best wireless earbuds under 100 dollars that will suit your needs.

- Best Earbuds For Phone Calls – Anker Soundcore Liberty Air 2
Best Sports Headphones - Creative Outlier Air TWS True Wireless Sweatproof Earphones
They are the highest in price point compared to the other wireless earbuds on this list, but under $100 is still a bargain for these great wireless earbuds.
The great thing about these fitness earbuds is the moment you open the package, they are fully charged with a 10-hour battery life.
Which is great for those who lose his/her earbuds quite frequently over time, and need a working pair of wireless earbuds ASAP. These are the best wireless earbuds for working out.
Also, the USB C-powered charging case offers another 2 full charges which would mean you don’t have to worry about charging the fitness earbuds for at least 30 hours.
In terms of sound, the Creative Outlier Air is fitted with the latest driver technology. The sound is incredibly balanced with the highs, mids, and deep bass because of its 5.6mm graphene driver diaphragm.
Equipped with the latest Bluetooth 5.0 and aptX/AAC, you can be sure of uncompromised and uninterrupted wireless audio quality.
Access smart assistants like Siri and Google Assistant by pressing twice on the earbud paired as the main unit.
Make a call, select a playlist, or turn up the volume control – all it takes is a double press on the button.
They’re definitely more comfortable and the noise isolation is equal as is the sound quality…all at 1/4 of the price! Battery life is amazing.
One thing that separates these from other brands (JLabs, Soundcore, 1 More, etc.) is that they support both AAC and AptX Bluetooth 5.0 codecs!!
Best Budget Earbuds - ENACFIRE E90 Wireless Earbuds
The sound is amazing. For such small earbuds, they have a 10mm driver in them, which does an excellent job reproducing quality sound quality.
These are geared a little on the bass side, but I do like a lot of bass in my music, so that’s not bad at all.
I have listened to a few songs in my initial couple of hours with them, from some bass-heavy R&B-inspired rock, some classic rock, a little country, even some early 90’s rap and they all sound great. Digital Underground’s “The Humpty Dance” really hits well with these!
Anyway, the overall sound quality is great. I switched it to a podcast while I was washing my dishes, and it too sounded excellent.
The stereo separation is better than that on my E60’s, so I’m strongly leaning to these being my daily drivers.
The fit is also excellent. Enacfire includes three sets of silicone tips, small, medium, and large. Medium comes on the buds, and I switched over to Large and they sit well in my ears. Nice and secure, not falling out.
The fit really helps you keep the bass quality up. They’re nice and light, very comfortable, and relatively easy to forget they’re in your ears. I don’t see an issue wearing these all day should the need arise.
Pairing is super easy. The right bud is the “master” and if you pull it out first, or pull them both out of the case, they go into pairing mode and show up as Enacfire E90 on your Bluetooth menu.
Just pair, grant the appropriate permissions, and they’re good to go.
One of the things I really like is I can also pair the right bud independently, so I can use them in mono mode to make them last longer.
OR, and I use this a lot, pair the secondary bud to my work cell phone so I can have that bud on in the car for phone calls, while routing my personal phone with my music/podcasts on it to the car stereo.
This has been working very well for me on other buds, and I expect it to work well here too.
Add another five full charges with the case, and you’re set for a full workweek. Not bad at all, and something earbuds that cost five times more don’t often match.
Add in the IPX8 rating (they’ll handle any rain showers, even a short dunk into a puddle) and these are very well featured earbuds for a really low price.
Best Bass Wireless Earbuds - JLab Audio JBuds Air ANC True Wireless Earbuds
JLab Audio JBuds – “The #1 true wireless earbud under $100 in the US*, now with Smart ANC. Offering 40+ hours of total Bluetooth playtime to GO every day.” – From Jlab
Tune out distractions from every direction with customized sound and active noise canceling plus industry-leading 24+ hours of total ANC playtime.
Built to last and for a hassle-free connection for anything you do, with your control on how you listen on-the-GO with an accessible case.
These are great earbuds! They’re not battery heavy so they don’t feel like they’re about to fall out of the ear and I’ve tried to knock them out.
The 3 EQ settings are nice though I leave mine on the bass boost setting.
As far as the noise-canceling it works very well and I can even hear people talk better when it’s on. The volume doesn’t get too high and there’s no distortion of sound because of this.
I love the wireless charging via the charging pod too. I’ve charged the earbuds 4 times now with it and still have yet to have to charge the pod.
The battery life is awesome but I have yet to deplete the battery from use. Highly recommend these earbuds.
These stylish earbuds are combined with an elegantly designed portable charging case that provides 32 hours of unrestrained musical enjoyment with long-lasting comfort.
Plus, the JBL TUNE125TWS is equipped with intuitive and handy controls conveniently located on each earpiece, including one-click access to Siri and Google Now.
What I like about them is they are great wireless earbuds for working out and running with. They never feel like they were going to fall out and felt snug in my ear while running.
I also like the stylish charging case that doesn’t require me to keep charging them after every use.
As for phone calls on the JBL TUNE125TWS, many of the people I called while using the JBL earbuds were impressed with my voice’s sound, and the clarity of the sounds coming from callers I talked to.
I’m impressed with these JBL earbuds and find them at a very reasonable price point for the level of sound and ease of use.
The case is also a battery so you can recharge the buds on the go and a USB C cable and alternate silicones are included as expected. I can easily recommend these as way above average earphones and they sound great and are a bargain for the cost.
The only thing that I don’t like with these earbuds is the instructions included in the box. They are very tough to read, and not a lot of information to help guide you in troubleshooting.
Best Noise-Canceling Earbuds - Mpow X5 Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling Wireless Earbuds
Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation – The outward-facing microphones can detect the external noise, and the inward-facing microphones monitor the noise inside the ear canal, and the earbuds counter it with equal anti-noise at the same time to eliminate the inside and outside noise.
This technology doubles the noise-canceling effect, allowing you to enjoy music in a more immersive way.
Transparency Mode – You can hear the sound of the surrounded environment without taking off the wireless earbuds, allowing you to interact with the world at any time.
You can talk with people anytime and anywhere, and you can hear the sounds of ambient traffic to ensure your safety.
I bought the Mpow X5 wireless earbuds because I needed an extra pair of earbuds for home use.
The sound is nice and clear. The base is about average. Not too much but enough to feel it a bit.
They are a bit bigger than I expected however they fit my ears well. They seem to be ergonomic in their design even if they don’t look like it initially.
They paired flawlessly with my phone via Bluetooth and seemed to have no problem staying in sync with the videos I watched(low latency).
I was excited to try the ANC(Active Noise Cancelation) feature.
So far I have only tested it on my noisy bathroom fan and it does reduce the volume(not as much as I had hoped though still amazing).
The transparency mode is nice for when someone is talking to you and you want to hear them without needing to take out your earbud. I wish the control wasn’t stacked inside the ANC function though.
I have to turn ANC on just to turn on transparency mode. I haven’t had a chance to see how long the battery lasts because I always put them in the charger case after every use.
I love these earbuds and am happy with them so far. They sound great and fit my ears comfortably.
Best Earbuds For Phone Calls - Anker Soundcore Liberty Air 2 Wireless Earbuds
The music quality of Anker Soundcore Liberty Air 2 Wireless Earbuds is excellent.
They are very clear and crisp with rich bass which, very importantly for me, does not overwhelm the rest of the music spectrum as is the case with some products.
The accompanying app is a very nice addition and gives them that much more appeal over cheaper options.
You can customize the control in regards to the touch-sensitive functions, change the EQ, and there’s also a function to customize the sound to your ears (like the hearing test you take with the different sound frequencies).
I haven’t had them long enough to truly test the battery life claim, but so far so good.
I was mostly intrigued by the microphone quality as I am on the phone quite often for work and am now in a hands-free state so I needed something decent to participate in conference calls while in the truck.
So far so good, no complaints from anyone on the other end and they have all said I sound clear with little to no background noise.
If you are looking for a quality pair of true wireless earbuds that don’t want to spend the money on one of the “premium” options available right now.
Now I want to say that for true wireless earbuds under 100, you are not going to get amazing quality in terms of sound and connectivity as you would with the expensive brands.
But, if you are like me who loses wireless earbuds every three months because of absent mindfulness, you can still find a great replacement pair of wireless earbuds that you can count on in your daily life.
Now, I am not a major audiophile when it comes to wireless earbuds, but I have come up with a shortlist of things that anyone shopping for a new pair of earbuds can use to find the right pair for you.
Bluetooth in the past always had its problems with connectivity, but with the introduction of Bluetooth 5.0, it offers the strongest connection available.
With such a strong connection now, you can be further away from your smartphone without interruption.
As of now, Bluetooth 5.0 has a range of close to 30 feet, which is great for those who want to leave his/her smartphone in a gym bag while working out.
So when choosing a pair of wireless earbuds with great connectivity, make sure that the product you are looking at offers Bluetooth 5.0.
Quality Of Sound
Sound quality may or may be unimportant to you, in regards to how you will be using your wireless earbuds daily.
If you are using the earbuds strictly for music, focus on a set that offers a great range of frequency that offers a punch.
If you are looking for a pair of earbuds to listen to podcasts or phone calls, then a basic set will be enough.
True wireless earbuds are closer to your ears than ever before, so you want to find a pair that fits.
Some earbuds are built for the rigors of fitness without falling out, and some are made for lounging around at home.
Just make sure you read reviews on the wireless earbuds you are looking for, and make sure the reviews are positive on the quality of comfort and feel.
Ability To Last
Not one pair of wireless earbuds are the same when it comes to longevity. If you are looking for something to use at the gym that is sweatproof, then look for waterproof ones.
If you are someone like me that has stepped on a pair or two of earbuds in my lifetime, make sure you find a pair that are built to withstand accidental drops.
This is something that I always look for in terms of any product I buy, and that is, does this brand stand by its product.
If by chance there is a defect in the product, are they willing to send you a replacement pair ASAP?
Even at true wireless earbuds under $100, a reputable company will always be there in the time of need.
If you are in the market of a pair of wireless headphones, the most important thing that you should focus on it the fit and comfort of the earbuds.
With full-sized headphones, that really wasn’t much of an issue, but a great fit is a priority.
