BLU G91 Smartphone Review – When it comes to affordable smartphones, Blu Smartphones is constantly aiming to outperform the competition in terms of what a budget phone should be. My iPhone X was seriously damaged a few years ago, and I had to take it in for repairs.
I raced to buy something cheap on Amazon that would suffice for the time being because the repair shop I took it to didn’t have a loaner phone for me, so I ordered the BLU Advance 5.0. Because the smartphone cost under $60, I was aware that I might not get what I paid for.
But after weeks of using the cheap unlocked phone and then going back to a repaired iPhone X, I was impressed by the cheap phone with a lot of potentials. So when BLU announced the BLU G91 for $150, I decided to be proactive and buy one now in case my iPhone 12 Pro Max breaks down in the near future.
Of course, I’d have to put the smartphone to the test to determine if it was worth the money in case of an emergency, and this is my evaluation of the BLU G91 after a month of use.

BLU G91 Review – Best Smartphone Under $150? Is It Worth Buying?
BLU Design
The BLU G91 stands out in this price range thanks to its exceptionally soft hand feel and state-of-the-art gradient rubber matter paint finish. The back of the phone has a velvety feel to it. It’s difficult to explain, but holding it in your hand feels very cool.
Display
The BLU G91 has a 6.5-inch high-definition LCD display with a built-in punch hole camera that produces theater-quality visuals. It features a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio, which means you can use it as an auxiliary display to play games, text, or view YouTube videos. Again, given the price, you absolutely cannot go wrong!
Quad Camera
The phone sports a quad-camera array on the back that includes 98MP Super Pixel Images, bokeh effect, 115° wide-angle, and A.L recognition, among other features. For shooting images and recording 1080p HD video, the G91 has excellent quality.

My BLU G91 Review
This phone appeals to me. Since I was a fan of the BLU Advance 5.0, which now seems like a distant memory, BLU continues to deliver exceptional value for your money with the BLU G91.
The BLU G91 is an unlocked phone that I use when I travel because I can just pop in a sim card and some minutes and make local calls without having to pay long-distance charges from my existing cellular operator at home. After a month of testing all of the features of The G91, I can say that it’s a terrific affordable option with design elements from today’s leading competitors in the smartphone market.
Positives:
+ Lots of memory and storage
+ Separate slots for 2 SIM cards and 1 SD card all simultaneously
+ Android 10
+ Long battery life
Negatives:
+ No rapid charger (but charges completely overnight, and lasts 2 days)
Design
I went with the green option, and it’s rather attractive. A hole-punch camera is located in the top left corner of the front, which has a huge screen with small bezels. There’s a small chin on the bottom, but it’s basically entirely screen. The back is made of a slightly sticky material that fits comfortably in the hand. Blu also offers a lovely smokey clear case that protects the phone while yet allowing it to be seen.
Screen
This was a huge source of concern for me. It says HD+, and I didn’t think about it when I placed my order. Although I associate HD with 1,080p, the new standard is HD = 720p. I’ve had the phone for almost a week and haven’t noticed any difference in screen resolution. None of the content I’ve seen so far appears to be jaggy. Everything appears to be in excellent condition. This phone’s IPS display is crisp and boasts vibrant colours. I’m sure that would be an issue if I played more video games.
Performance
This is yet another instance where I was taken aback. The processor is a MediaTek Helio A25. People usually expect a Snapdragon CPU, however, MediaTek has made significant improvements in the quality of its processors. This is an octa-core CPU that does a good job of multitasking. When switching between chores and games, there is a tiny latency now and then, but overall it is quite fast.
The call and audio quality are also excellent. It comes with a case, but it also comes with earbuds, as I indicated earlier. They have a similar look to Apple’s AirPods, but the sound quality isn’t nearly as good, but they’re a great value for an included accessory. Because they are not enclosed, they do not produce a lot of bass, but the mids and highs are excellent.
Battery
A 5000 mAh battery is included. I’ve had it for three days and haven’t had to charge it because of my daily media intake. This is an area where it excels. The screen resolution and the power-saving characteristic of the MediaTek CPU are two elements that aid here.
Camera
At this price, it can’t possibly do everything brilliantly, can it? While Blu isn’t a slouch when it comes to camera implementation, this isn’t a Samsung or Pixel. In bright light, the photos are excellent, and in low light, they are adequate. Even the night mode is rather good.
Again, for the price, my expectations are not high and this does exceed them, but my daily driver is a Pixel 4a 5G and there’s no comparison. I’ve recently used the OnePlus Nord N10 5G and I will say the camera is better implemented here on the Blu G91.
Cellular
I haven’t made many calls yet, but I’ve tested my Cricket, Tmobile, and Redpocket SIMs on this phone and they’ve all worked perfectly. There were no dropped calls or difficulties connecting.
Final Thoughts
The BLU G91 is one of the best budget phones you will find for 150 dollars this year. I would recommend this smartphone for those looking for the features of a mid-range phone at a budget price.
