Naenka Bone Conduction Runner Pro Headphones Review – Best Conduction Headphones

Naenka Runner Pro Headset Review

Visualize being able to hear sounds through the vibrations in your jaw and cheekbones. The sound waves bypass the outer and middle ear, but their stimulating effects are sent straight to the inner ear via a conductive current carried by your bones.

I understand that this sounds a little strange and sci-fi to some, but this technology has been around for a long time. Bone conduction headphones are commonly used by people with hearing loss, during scuba diving, as a principal mode of military communication, and while participating in sports like jogging and cycling.

I recently bought a pair of Runner Pro Bone Conduction Bluetooth Headphones since I needed a trustworthy pair of waterproof headphones to listen to music while I was training for my triathlon.

This review is based on my own experiences with the Runner Pro Bone Conduction Bluetooth Headphones, and I hope that by the end of it, you’ll agree that these headphones are a good fit for your lifestyle.

How Bone Conduction Headphones Send Signals to Your Brain?

Naenka Bone Conduction Runner Pro Headphones

Some clever minds discovered a means to make sound waves travel more easily, namely through bones.

When sound waves cause the bones in the head to vibrate, the electrical impulses are carried directly to the cochlea, which then transfers them to the brain via auditory nerves. The same impulses that reach the brain also reach the ear.

The technology has been shown to be helpful for persons with hearing problems, and it is also being used in the medical profession to treat hearing loss.

Advantages of The Bone conduction Headphone

There are various benefits of Bone Conduction Headphones:

More Comfortable Fit

Naenka Bone Conduction Runner Pro Headphones

We’ve all struggled with putting handsfree and headphones in our ears, which are both inconvenient. Finding the proper fit for your ear can be difficult. Bone conduction earbuds, on the other hand, eliminate this issue.

You will no longer have to worry about the earbuds dropping out of your ears or hurting after a while. Even if you go for a run or do something else during the day, the headphones will stay in place.

IP 8 swimming waterproof

Swimming waterproofing has been improved. Rain and sweat are never a problem, and it can be washed and soaked right away.

Additionally, feel free to wear it while swimming or bathing. (Most similar items are only waterproof to level 6, and soaking in water is not permitted.)

Unique Listening Experience

Playing your favorite songs and always getting the sound of nature to enjoy. With the bone conduction earphones, you will be able to cherish every moment.

You’re going to have an exceptional listening experience, and you’re going to feel the music flowing through your veins.

Increased Situational Awareness

A perfect way to avoid the world is to walk around with headphones in your ear. But in the past, many studies declared from the incidents that walking with earphones is not safe.

So, the bone conduction headphones solve this problem in the best possible way.

There will be no speaker over your ears with these headphones that will prevent you from hearing horns, calling-outs, or any other sound that may or may not be a risk to your safety.

Naenka Runner Pro Review

Naenka Bone Conduction Runner Pro Headphones

Naenka Runner Pro - Sound quality

Since bone conduction headphones are designed completely different compared to your usual headphones the way sound is delivered is different than what you may be used to.

By design, bone conduction headphones don’t have any form of holes where the sound it creates goes through. This type of headphone has a fully enclosed cavity design. Plus, it uses vibration technology that enables this headphone to produce sound. Having a fully enclosed design is also the reason why it can achieve ingress protection of IPX8.

So in terms of sound quality in bone conduction headphones, the sound quality it creates tends to be on the lower mid-range tones. You can also expect strong low tones that are packed with bass throughout the music you are listening to.

Now that’s out, let’s discuss the sound quality of the Naenka Runner Pro. But, the sound quality of the Naenka Runner Pro is excellent, comparable to most bone conduction headphones, and the sound is more inclined to lower tones which are expected. What I liked about the sound quality is it didn’t come off dull and the tones are noticeably there. But, it’s far from perfect.

Compared to the competitors, the sound quality it produces is better than those at the same price range. Due to its 16mm aperture driver, compared to other earphones or earbuds that come equipped with sound drivers that are usually between 8mm to 15mm in diameter, the sound really shines compared to many earbuds at the same price as the Naenka Runner ProBut, compared to headphones that typically come with 20mm to 50mm drivers, the sound quality between earbuds and headphones is in the middle between the two.

Naenka Runner Pro - Microphone Quality

The Naenka Runner Pro bone conduction headphone comes equipped with a single built-in CVC noise reduction microphone. It is located on the right portion of the headphone along with the control buttons.

With a single CVC microphone, the headphone is not intended or built for phone calls or video conferences. Yes, you can still use the headphone to make calls, drop calls, and for online conferences but the quality of your voice is unreliable.

Another noticeable downside is its capability to filter out the noise which is minimal. It can barely filter/block the noise being picked up from the strong wind.

But, it’s still a better microphone compared to others that come with a dual built-in microphone or more.

Naenka Runner Pro - Comfort

The way the Naenka Runner Pro fits the head is different than what you may be used to. The reason is there’s no length adjustment for people with smaller head sizes may find a problem with.

For those with smaller head sizes, the band of the headphone can cause discomfort and can be bothersome. It tends to touch the lower portion of your nape in every head movement.

But for those people with medium to larger head sizes, these headphones are very comfortable to wear. It fits tightly enough not to cause any form of discomfort. So when running or working out at the gym, the headphone stays in place which is excellent.

If there’s one thing that we would love to add or have when it comes to the fitting of these headphones, it’s the ability to adjust the band. Yes, the headphone itself is flexible and sturdy but its current size and length can be a problem for most people who has a smaller head size.

Naenka Runner Pro - Controls

bone conduction headphones

The Naenka Runner Pro bone conduction wireless headphone comes with three physical buttons.

These buttons mainly function as power control and volume control. Through the different pressing combinations, the buttons will perform different actions. With that in mind, below are the functionality of each button:

bone conduction headphones

Naenka Runner Pro - Battery

The Naenka Runner Pro comes with a built-in battery of 230 mAh capacity and is rated to last up to 6 hours of continuous usage with the level volume set to 65%. A positive I saw in charging is, it requires 2 hours to fully charge the Naenka Runner Pro  at a completely empty battery.

Naenka Runner Pro - Storage Capacity

The Naenka Runner Pro comes with 2 different modes. First is Bluetooth connection mode where you can play the media through your device and listen to it from the headset. Second is the stand-alone mode where you can listen to music or tracks that are stored inside its 8GB storage.

To access the internal storage of the Naenka Runner Pro, simply connect the charger cable to the headset and the other end to your computer. Your computer should immediately recognize the device and open up a folder that contains the pre-installed music inside the headset. From there, you can add more songs to the headset which is a neat feature to have.

Conclusion

Naenka’s Bone conduction earphones or Bonephones are a great alternative compared to normal earphones because they provide a wireless structure that comes off easily without tangling or irritating the user.

Secondly, the waterproof technology is also why the sports circle values this product, making it easy to communicate. The health benefits are that it doesn’t cause tympanic membrane strain and doesn’t cause hearing damage.

The next trend of the generation is Bonephones. It is already taking its roots to the fields such as civilian wear, military wear, private communications, essential hearing aids, and underwater sports.

The Naenka Runner Pro is one of the best bone conduction headphones on the market so far.

Do we recommend the Naenka Runner ProYes, of course. If you’re looking for a headset that also allows you to hear your surroundings, an open-ear headset, that’s excellent in overall quality, fits well with large to average head size, color black with sophisticated matte design, and supports the latest Bluetooth technology, then we strongly recommend you to check out the Naenka Runner Pro.
