What Is The Bowflex Revolution Home Gym?

Bowflex Revolution

The Bowflex Revolution Home Gym is an amazing home workout machine that utilizes the SpiraFlex® plate technology resistance system. SpiraFlex was developed for NASA for astronauts living in the International Space Station to help keep them in shape without relying on gravity and, best thing for those building a home gym, it is now being used on the Bowflex Revolution home gym. The biggest advantage of this all-in-one gym machine is that it produces resistance through the entire range of motion. This technology is a non-inertial resistance mechanism that provides the smoothness and feel of gym-quality plate-loaded machines but eliminates excessive bulk and weight.

The SpiraFlex’s unique, state-of-the-art resistance system involves wrapping an elastic strap tighter and tighter around a coil, which is contained in a small canister. It looks similar to free weight plates, but weighs only a few pounds. Overall, SpiraFlex® helps the Bowflex Revolution remain quiet, lightweight, portable, safe, and is an amazingly high-tech system.

The Revolution Home Gym has two independently moving arms with ten position settings and 170-degree adjustments to allow you to find the perfect feel. This home gym comes with 220 lbs of weight that transform into 440 lbs of resistance. You also can upgrade to 300 lbs of weight and 600 lbs of resistance. With all of these adjustments and settings, the Bowflex Revolution allows you to perform more than 100 different exercises for the entire body.

Customer Reviews

When you look at any home gym on the internet today, no matter how flashy the promotional videos are, or how glossy the pictures are, it all comes down to customer reviews.

So how does the Bowflex Revolution match up in customer reviews compared to other major all-in-one home gyms? Let’s just say that it’s a clear winner!

Since the Bowflex Revolution is one of Bowflex’s most popular models because it offers over 100 different exercises it’s designed for the casual exerciser as well as the fitness junky.

One review from the Bowflex website “The Revolution is an amazing product. I can do everything I do at the gym at my home! I feel like I’m more efficient and also doing more exercises now than when I went into a fancy gym. The only challenge was the installation which took a while and was a little confusing. But once you get it installed, it’s an amazing product and I have been a gym member for more than 25 years and now there is no need to go into a gym (especially with the coronavirus outbreak).”

Another glowing review “I use the Revolution and its multiple workout options to hit all body parts. Once you get it set up it is easy to use the guide that comes with it tells you which position to set the arms into target a specific body part. It has become equipment I rely on and it always delivers.”

Does It Offer A Whole Body Workout?

If you watch the full video clip above, you will grasp what the Bowflex Revolution can achieve for you.

When I was introduced to the Bowflex ecosystem, it was with the fantastic Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym. It used the power rod system that Bowflex is famous for.

The Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym is a great home gym, that is cheaper compared to the Bowflex Revolution. But it was missing out on a few areas for me in terms of a full-body workout, and that was the ability to perform a cardio workout.

The Bowflex Revolution not only does it offer chest press options, leg curls, pulls ups, rowing, cable pulls, squats, etc., but it offers the ability to transform into a rowing machine.

So with Bowflex pushing the Revolution as a total all-in-one machineit delivers!

Plus, it’s designed for all fitness enthusiasts to use at home that many at-home workout machines can’t deliver.

SpiraFlex resistance vs. Power Rod resistance

Bowflex Revolution

What made Bowflex stand out from the crowd in the all-in-one home gym market was its Power Rod technology

Think of the movement of a longbow. Power Rod technology serves two important purposes. First, it creates less resistance at the start of every exercise (where you’re weakest) to reduce strain on your joints.

Second, it gradually increases the resistance throughout each exercise to push you to your absolute limit and maximize results.

While the Power Rod Technology serves its purpose on the entry-level Bowflex machines, but how long can the rod’s strength last over time?

The Revolution’s SpiraFlex® plate technology was designed for NASA to allow astronauts to maintain their muscle mass in areas of low gravity.

How does the SpiraFlex® plate technology work? Just like Power Rod technology, they operate by using resistance to simulate the weight, rather than the weight itself.

What makes the SpiraFlex® plate technology better than the Power Rod technology, in my opinion, is that there is no pulling or bending out of shape with the SpiraFlex® plate technology.

SpiraFlex® plate technology enables you to stack up your machine with heavier weights without the risk of injury. I like this technology for a home gym because it’s taken away my fear of lifting heavy without a spotter.

Plus another bonus with the Bowflex Revolution is that it comes built with double the amount of weight to workout with compared to prior Bowflex models.

And, since these plates interlock to increase the tension while working out, there is no need for extra bulky weights getting in your way while working out.

Shipping and Assembly

Shipping costs will vary for the Bowflex Revolution Home Gym depending on where you purchase from and what type of delivery you prefer. Amazon usually offers free Prime shipping on the Revolution – click here to find out.

You may think that assembling the Bowflex Revolution Home Gym is complicated because of the number of parts to the fitness machine, but you don’t need to worry about that.

Most of the complicated parts are already assembled, so you are just putting together the main components of the home gym and that’s it.

Everything you need to put the fitness machine together is included in the box. Bowflex provides a variety of Allen wrenches, but you’ll need a screwdriver and a couple of adjustable wrenches to complete the process.

The assembly instructions are straightforward and provide more than enough description, so if you have the time, the process should take you between 6-8 hours.

Minor Issues With The Bowflex Revolution

When I made the decision to build my home gym, I made sure I had plenty of space for my fitness equipment and space available for working out in.

An issue that many may face with the Bowflex Revolution  is that to utilize the entire machine, you will need at least 3ft x 3ft space around the machine.

Keep in mind that you can store the Bowflex Revolution upright when not in use, so those worried about taking up an entire room for this machine don’t need to stress.

Another concern I have with this workout equipment, is the resistance cables in this machine are both slightly too short and too thin.

When it comes to the shortness issue, it’s only when I use the cables from the floor.

As for the cables being a little thinner than I expected, it may be an issue down the road from excessive use, but with Bowflex’s 10 warranty, I won’t have to worry about this issue for at least 10 years.

What is the Bowflex Revolution Home Gym Cost?

Bowflex Revolution

With entry-level home workout machines, most of them are way more inexpensive than a monthly gym membership that oftentimes is never used after the second month of signing up.

Unfortunately, the Bowflex Revolution home gym is priced around $2900 dollars, so it may be out of some price ranges that many what for an all-in-one home exercise machine.

But think about some costs that you may have not factored in with your monthly gym membership that would make a Bowflex home gym affordable.

Think about how much your time is worth in a day.

Before the pandemic hit, and we were all forced to stay inside our homes, travel costs and other extra expenses came into play with your monthly gym membership.

When you went to your gym for a great workout, you probably had to deal with a commute to the gym there and back of at least a 1-hour round trip.

Plus, changing into and out of your workout gear each time, followed by waiting for others around you to finish his/her workout on a particular workout machine, and also having to deal with people makes working out at home more appealing than your local gym.

If you think about a Bowflex Revolution and keeping it for the length of its ten-year warrantyyou would be paying close to 50 cents a day for a home gym experience that you can enjoy for years to come.

Still thinking that the Bowflex machine price is still too high?

I have been looking at home gym add ons like the Peloton Spin bike or a proper treadmill to run on, and both come at a high cost. The Peloton studio cycle starts at $2,000.00 and goes up from there.

Plus, if you decided to build your home gym with squat racks, barbells, dumbells, benches, and weights, to get a proper home gym in your home will set you back quite a bit of money.

With the Bowflex Revolution machine, you are getting a gym-quality item that is built to last for years. Plus, this home gym machine offers over 100 different types of exercises to choose from for a similar price to one Peloton bike.

To me, it sounds like a decision that you can’t pass up! If you are thinking that the Bowflex Revolution is the right choice for your home gym, click here to visit the manufacturer’s website to learn more.

Summary

When you purchase the Bowflex Revolution home gym, do you think you will go back to a gym full of people and paying a monthly fee?

I don’t think anyone who purchases this great all-in-one fitness machine will ever go back to the gym again. Well, except if you are traveling, and away from your Bowflex Revolution.

I know that this fitness equipment is pushing the budget for many looking for a quality home gym experience, but it’s the best investment out there.

You are investing in your health, and that is an extremely valuable price.

I have built my own home gym, with a squat rack, bench, weights, and the whole nine yards, but I was able to get the same workout experience with just one machine.

Plus, I have used quite a few all-in-one home gym machines in the past few years and nothing has come close to the Bowflex Revolution

With 100+ exercises on one machine, you will be able to use it for years.

Plus, you will constantly find new ways to push yourself on it, and with the 10-year warranty, you will be guaranteed that it will last for as long as you can use it.

I know that some fitness enthusiasts out there worry about the cables being unable to withstand years of abuse, but with Bowflex’s 10-year warranty, it shouldn’t be an issue.

Especially when the Revolution costs around half a buck a day for the entire warranty covered period

It’s a home gym experience that everyone thinking about building his/her next home gym should have.
