This is what I actually use every day across blogging, travel, filmmaking, and daily life. I share why each tool matters and how it makes my work easier.

WordPress
I build all my blog content on WordPress. It’s flexible, scales well, and handles SEO plugins, custom themes, and workflow automation. I’ve customized themes to reflect my style as a filmmaker and vlogger—auto-full-width video embeds, custom post types, and integrated email forms.
Why WordPress over Squarespace or Wix? Full control. I’m not locked into a platform’s limitations, and I can add any functionality I need through plugins or custom code. Performance-tuned with caching and CDN, it loads fast even on mobile—critical for both readers and SEO.
Bluehost
I host my WordPress site on Bluehost. It’s reliable, affordable, and easy to set up. Their 1-click WP install saved me headaches early on, and support helped me tweak PHP settings when I needed it.
Why Bluehost over SiteGround or HostGator? Consistent uptime and beginner-friendly control panel. Free SSL, domain handling, and resource scaling make it a dependable base for my growing blog audience. I’ve stuck with them for years because they just work.
Trello
I use Trello to keep my projects organized. The boards, lists, and cards system makes it easy to track everything—from blog post drafts to film pre-production tasks. I like that I can move cards around as projects progress; it feels visual and simple without getting bogged down in spreadsheets.
Why Trello over Asana or Monday.com? Simplicity. Trello doesn’t overwhelm me with features I don’t need. When I work with editors or co-writers, we share a Trello board so everyone knows what’s in progress and what’s done. Deadlines, notes, and file links all live in one place, which saves me from digging through emails.
It’s flexible enough for both blogging and filmmaking, and it’s free to start using. It keeps me accountable and makes complex projects feel manageable.
Canva
I’ve used Canva for 3+ years for blog graphics, social media posts, and YouTube thumbnails. The template library lets me put together quick banners or thumbnails, add branded fonts, and export social-sized versions easily. The drag-and-drop interface means I don’t need a designer for basic visual polish.
Why Canva over Photoshop for graphics? Speed and templates. While I use Photoshop for deep edits, Canva is unbeatable when I need something polished in under 10 minutes. It’s a huge time-saver and keeps my brand consistent across posts, YouTube thumbnails, and IG stories.
Adobe Creative Cloud
For advanced tools—like editing thumbnails, video titles, or motion graphics—I use Adobe. Photoshop for deep edits, Premiere Pro for video cuts, and After Effects when motion is needed. I know the shortcuts and workflows, so I move fast.
Why Adobe over DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut? Industry standard and ecosystem. Files move seamlessly between apps, and the tools integrate with my entire filmmaking workflow. It pairs well with my cinema cameras, especially when I export clips or color-grade footage. Worth it if you go beyond simple graphics.
Grammarly
I use Grammarly as my second pair of eyes before publishing. It catches typos, awkward phrasing, and tone issues I miss when I’m deep in writing mode. The browser extension works inside WordPress, Google Docs, and even social media drafts.
Why Grammarly over built-in spellcheck? Context-aware suggestions. It doesn’t just catch errors—it helps me tighten sentences and match my intended tone. The plagiarism checker also gives me peace of mind before publishing.
ConvertKit
For email marketing, I rely on ConvertKit. It’s built specifically for creators, so I can segment subscribers, automate sequences, and track which content resonates. The visual automation builder makes it easy to set up welcome sequences or product launches without needing a developer.
Why ConvertKit over Mailchimp? Creator-focused features. Tagging and segmentation are intuitive, and the landing page builder is cleaner than most alternatives. It grows with you—from a simple newsletter to complex funnels.
Travel Services
TripAdvisor
I check TripAdvisor for honest reviews before booking anywhere. It helps me vet hotels, tours, and restaurants. I’ve avoided unpleasant surprises by reading the “recent traveler photos” section and filtering by traveler type—perfect when I travel solo or with a crew.
Why TripAdvisor over Google Reviews? Travel-specific context. Real feedback from travelers gives more nuance than polished marketing copy—so I trust it. The forums are also gold when planning unusual shoots or locations.
Marriott
When I need consistency and points—especially on longer trips—Marriott is my go-to. Their app and elite status perks (late checkout, lounge access) are worth it. I get a quiet room consistently, which is helpful when editing on the road.
Why Marriott over Hilton or IHG? Reliable quality across properties. I’ve stayed at dozens of Marriott locations worldwide, and the experience is predictable—which matters when I’m managing tight production schedules.
Hotels Tonight
When flights get canceled or plans change last-minute, Hotels Tonight is the first place I check. The app consistently surfaces deals on quality hotels that I wouldn’t have found otherwise—often at big discounts. It’s saved me more than once when I’ve needed a reliable place to stay without paying last-minute premium rates.

Filmmaking Equipment & Software
Studio Binder
For production planning, Studio Binder is my tool of choice. I build shot lists, call sheets, crew schedules, and storyboards all in one place. It handles permissions, call times, and scene breakdown without juggling spreadsheets.
Why Studio Binder over Google Sheets? Purpose-built for production. Everything a film shoot needs—from script breakdowns to shooting schedules—lives in one organized system. It keeps my shoots running smoothly, even when I’m multi-tasking on set.
WriterDuet
When co-writing remotely, I use WriterDuet. It syncs in real time and supports version control. I can comment, revise, and export seamlessly—all without battling email threads or conflicting file versions.
Why WriterDuet over Final Draft? Real-time collaboration. Final Draft is powerful for solo writing, but WriterDuet excels when multiple people are working on the same script simultaneously. Great for remote contributors or quick rewrites during pre-production.
InVideo
InVideo makes it simple to create professional-looking videos, even if you’re just starting out. The ready-made templates let you drag, drop, and customize within minutes. I use it when I need quick, publish-ready content without setting up a full edit in Premiere.
Why InVideo over CapCut? Template quality and speed. What I like most is the flexibility—you can create social posts, YouTube intros, or blog video embeds quickly. The media library, transitions, and text animations give videos a polished feel without hours of editing.
It’s become my go-to for quick, seamless video creation. For bloggers and creators who want engaging content without the steep learning curve, InVideo is a solid tool.
Epidemic Sound
For royalty-free music and sound effects, I rely on Epidemic Sound. Their library is huge, the licensing is simple (one subscription covers everything), and the music quality is miles ahead of generic stock tracks.
Why Epidemic Sound over Artlist? Better search and curation. I can find the exact mood I need faster, and the tracks feel more modern. The licensing is also worry-free—I’m covered even if my content goes viral or gets monetized.
Frame.io
I use Frame.io for video review and collaboration. Clients and collaborators can leave timestamped comments directly on the video, which eliminates confusing email chains like “at the part where the guy walks in.”
Why Frame.io over WeTransfer? Actual collaboration tools. WeTransfer just moves files; Frame.io lets people mark exact moments, reply to feedback threads, and approve cuts—all in one place. Essential for client work or remote post-production.
Moment
I use Moment lenses and cases to shoot on the go. These let me capture wide-angle or macro shots on my phone—great for BTS content, scouting locations, or quick social posts when I can’t bring cinema cameras.
Why Moment over cheap clip-on lenses? Optical quality. They feel sturdy, the glass is sharp, and the mounts are reliable. The difference in image quality is noticeable, especially in low light or at the edges of the frame.
Fitness Resources
A Quick Note on Fitness
Fitness became non-negotiable for me five years ago after a serious health scare. Building a home gym has kept me consistent and accountable without relying on gym schedules or commutes. Here’s where I source quality equipment at fair prices.
Amazon
Amazon is where I buy most of my home gym gear. They stock everything—from resistance bands and kettlebells to cardio machines and yoga mats. Shipping is fast, prices are competitive, and the return policy takes the risk out of buying larger equipment.
Why Amazon over specialty fitness stores? Selection and speed. I can compare dozens of options, read real reviews, and have gear arrive in two days. It’s hard to beat when building out a home gym on your own schedule.
Best Buy
It surprised me too, but Best Buy actually sells fitness equipment online. They carry state-of-the-art treadmills, bikes, and strength training gear—plus the electronics you’d expect. It’s become a one-stop shop when I’m upgrading both fitness gear and creative tech.
Why Best Buy? Trusted retailer with solid warranties. If something goes wrong, their customer service and return process are straightforward. Plus, you can sometimes find open-box deals on high-end equipment.
Walmart
For budget-friendly fitness equipment, Walmart is hard to beat. Their prices make it easy to add new pieces to my home setup without overspending. From dumbbells to mats, it’s a reliable go-to for affordable starter gear.
Why Walmart? Price and accessibility. It’s perfect when you’re just getting started or need to replace basics without breaking the bank.
Daily-Use Tech
iPhone 16 Pro Max
My phone is the iPhone 16 Pro Max. It’s the center of mobile editing, photography, and daily communication. Big screen, fast chip, pro-level camera—it backs up my footage and keeps me connected on set and on the road.
Why iPhone over Android? Apple’s ecosystem. My phone syncs seamlessly with my MacBook, Apple Watch, and iPad. AirDrop, iCloud, and continuity features save me hours every week. The ProRes video recording is also a game-changer for quick B-roll.
Apple Watch Series 10
I’m using the Apple Watch Series 10—the newest model available. Its wide-angle OLED is brighter off-axis, the screen is thinner but bigger, and it detects sleep apnea, water depth, and temperature. I wear it all day to track movement, keep messages on my wrist, ping my iPhone when I misplace it, and even use it as a camera remote for photo setups.
Why Apple Watch over Garmin or Fitbit? Integration with iPhone. Notifications, health tracking, and Apple Pay all work seamlessly. It’s discreet enough for professional shoots but functional enough to track workouts and sleep.
MacBook Pro (M4 Chip)
My workhorse is the MacBook Pro powered by the M4 chip—the latest from Apple. The new M4 brings massive speed boosts in CPU, unified memory, and AI tasks—so exporting video, multi-camera timelines, and editing stills happen fast. Everything I use—from Premiere to Photoshop—feels responsive. The battery lasts through an entire edit session, and it just gets work done without stutter.
Why MacBook Pro over Windows laptops? Final Cut, Logic Pro, and the entire Apple ecosystem. The build quality is unmatched, and macOS is stable for creative work. The M4 chip also handles 4K and 6K footage without choking.
iPad Air (M3 Chip)
I use the iPad Air with the M3 chip for script reviews, storyboarding with Apple Pencil, and quick edits in LumaFusion when I’m away from my MacBook. It’s light enough to carry everywhere but powerful enough to handle real work.
Why iPad Air over iPad Pro? Price-to-performance. The Air gives me 90% of the Pro’s power for significantly less money. For my use cases—script notes, rough cuts, and reference viewing on set—it’s more than enough.
Sony A7III
The Sony A7III is one of my most reliable cameras for both filmmaking and photography. Its 24.2MP full-frame sensor, excellent dynamic range, and strong low-light performance make it a versatile tool whether I’m shooting travel videos, indie films, or behind-the-scenes content.
Why Sony A7III over Canon or Nikon? S-Log profiles and lens ecosystem. Paired with S-Log2 or S-Log3, I can color grade footage to match higher-end cameras like RED or Blackmagic, which makes it a dependable B-cam on set. It also shoots oversampled 4K from 6K, giving sharp, detailed footage that looks professional even by today’s standards.
Autofocus is fast and accurate, battery life is solid, and it’s compact enough for solo shooting. For creators who want cinematic results without overspending, the A7III remains a workhorse.
DJI Gear Lineup
I rely on DJI for stabilization and aerial work. Here’s what I use and why:
- DJI Ronin: Keeps my mirrorless shots stable—perfect for smooth walk-and-talk scenes or moving interviews.
- DJI Mavic 4 Pro: Captures aerials I use in travel content and establishing shots. Compact enough to travel with, powerful enough for professional work.
- DJI Osmo Action 5: Handles rough environments—water rides, tight spaces, or anywhere I can’t take big cameras. Rugged and reliable.
- DJI Osmo Pocket 3: My quick B-roll tool on the move—small, gimbal-stabilized, and fast to deploy. Perfect for spontaneous moments.
- DJI RS 4: My heavier handheld stabilizer for cinematic moves with full camera rigs. Essential for dynamic shots.
Why DJI over Zhiyun or Freefly? Build quality and ecosystem. DJI gear works together seamlessly, the firmware updates are consistent, and support is solid. They’re rugged, reliable, and get the job done on every shoot.
